Rank the year’s best movies with your movie group

Every December, critics publish their best-of lists and group chats argue about them. Make your own instead. Add the movies your group actually saw this year, in theaters or at home, to a Rankd and send the link. Everyone ranks privately, and the result is your group’s list of the year, from first to last. It works for a movie club, a podcast crew or friends who share a streaming login. Do it before awards season so you can compare.

The questionWhat was the best movie we saw this year?
  1. The sci-fi epic we saw in IMAX
  2. The horror movie everyone talked about
  3. That quiet indie drama
  4. The animated sequel
  5. The surprise comedy hit
  6. The awards-season biopic
Use this question

Free. Add your own options (these are just examples), then send one link to your group.

Why ranking beats a regular poll here

How it works

  1. Add the question and 3 to 30 options
  2. Send one private link to the group
  3. Everyone ranks privately, in about a minute
  4. You reveal the winner

Tips

Questions

What if not everyone saw every movie?

Ask people to rank movies they haven’t seen toward the bottom, or trim the list to the films most of the group saw. Trimming works better, since one unseen movie can drag down a favorite.

Can people see how I ranked?

No. Each person’s order stays private. Everyone sees the group’s final order and where they personally landed, never anyone else’s individual ranking.

Is it free? Does everyone need the app?

Rankd is free and runs in the browser, so there is nothing to download. Friends open the link from any group chat (iMessage, WhatsApp, Slack, email) and rank in about a minute.
