Questions

What is a Condorcet winner?

The option that beats every other option one on one: for each rival, more ballots rank it higher than rank the rival higher. When one exists, most people agree it is the fairest winner.

What if there is no Condorcet winner?

Preferences can go in a circle (A beats B, B beats C, C beats A). Then the calculator shows who wins the most matchups (the Copeland method), counting a tied matchup as half.

How are ballots that skip options counted?

A ranked option beats any option the ballot leaves out. Two options a ballot leaves out are no preference from that ballot.

How should I type the ballots?

One ballot per line, best first, separated by β€œ>” or commas. Put β€œ12:” in front for 12 identical ballots.

Is my data saved?

No. The count runs in your browser and nothing you type is sent to Rankd.

How do I collect ranked ballots from a group?

Make a free Rankd rank, send one link to your group chat, and everyone ranks privately on their phone. Rankd counts it and reveals the winner.
